I am also pleased to write a few lines on his Pinot Noir "base".

In bocca si delinea grande sapidità, ottima freschezza e morbidezza. Bell'equilibrio quindi, con tannini di estrema eleganza. Notevole la persistenza.
Non esiterei ad accompagnarlo con pollo arrosto e patate al forno.

Il bello della Borgogna è che ogni produttore ha un suo stile, ogni territorio dona il suo vino con mille sfaccettature, raramente incontriamo vini uguali, moltissimi dotati among other things, a strong personality.

Marsannay appellation Village Les Echezots 2002 - Bart Domain

Garnet bright. Aromatic notes of cola, tamarind and tobacco, damp scent ferrous in the final. Sip still fresh and fruity, even if it is a bit 'down it is still pleasant to drink.


Bressandes Corton Grand Cru 2001 - Prince Florent de Merode

Garnet red light. Sweet scents, almost cocoa butter, then acrylic accents. In the mouth, the tone is soft, round tannins and vanilla returns. It tends to just sit on the finish.





La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole 2006 - Domaine Francois Lamarche.

Fiat, S & P lowers ratings to BB from BB +, Fiat Industrial BB +

LONDON, Feb. 24 (Reuters) - Standard & Poor's lowered its rating on Fiat (FIA.MI: Quote ) long-term BB + from BB, and confirmed that the short-to B.

Chi ama il vino non può non conoscere i prodotti del compianto Gianni Masciarelli, scomparso a soli 52 anni a luglio del 2008.

Pochi mesi prima, con alcuni amici, ero stato in visita presso la sua azienda a San Martino sulla Marrucina (CH) e devo ammettere che dietro il suo apparente atteggiamento schivo e duro, si celava una persona cordiale, arguta ed intelligente.

Oggi l’azienda è condotta con successo dalla moglie, Marina Cvetic, che porta avanti la filosofia di Gianni.

WALLETS - Less Debt Italy in Lombard Odier new benchmark

MILANO, 18 febbraio (Reuters) - Meno Italia, Francia e Spagna, più Germania, Olanda, Austria e Finlandia nel proprio portafoglio di bond governativi della zona euro. E, a livello internazionale, spazio a Cina e India.
Sono alcune delle conseguenze pratiche del progressivo passaggio dei fondi obbligazionari di Lombard Odier investment managers dai tradizionali benchmark basati sulla capitalizzazione a quelli basati sui fondamentali.
"I benchmark market cap ti obbligano ad investire nei paesi più indebitati" spiega il responsabile reddito fisso e valute del gestore svizzero, Stephane Monier, che ha incontrato Reuters a Milano. "La Grecia ad esempio è un paese assai indebitato ma molti se lo sono trovato in portafoglio, costretti poi a svendere quando il rating è sceso sotto l'investment grade".
Lombard Odier propone nuovi benchmark basati principalmente su due aspetti, dimensione e crescita del paese emittente. Ad essi si aggiungono altri criteri: debito pubblico e privato, quota di debito detenuta da stranieri, equilibrio fiscale, copertura della spesa pensionistiche, equilibrio estero, per finire con dinamica demografica e rischio politico.
Dei 12 fondi obbligazionari caratterizzati da strategia 'direzionale' del gestore, tre hanno abbracciato i nuovi benchmark nel 2010 e altri tre lo faranno quest'anno, per un quota complessiva, entro fine 2011, del 60-70% delle masse relative.

"Il peso di un settore come quello retail e servizi diventa fondamentale, il 35%, così come chimica e farmacautica al 17%, mentre settori su cui tradizionalmente c'è molta esposizione - tlc e banche - vengono sottopesati rispettivamente all'11% e al 6%".
All'interno di ciascun settore la scelta dell'emittente segue diversi parametri, quali dimensione, leva, copertura investimenti, generazione di cassa, crescita di debito e utili e - per il settore bancario - profilo di raccolta e qualità degli asset.
La nuova metodologia premia due bond italiani, Edison (EDN.MI: Quotazione ) e A2a (A2.MI: Quotazione ), inseriti tra i sei titoli utility del fondo che investe nelle classi di rating BBB e BB (che dovrebbe essere peraltro registrato in Italia in tempi brevi): le obbligazioni Edison costituiscono l'1% dell'intero fondo, quelle A2A quasi lo 0,8%.

Yesterday Cavalieri Hilton Hotel (Rome) held a tasting dedicated to Barolo.
Otto the labels, all excellent and all considered part of those much reviled "Barolo Boys" who from the late eighties / early nineties, introduced barrel and rotating macerator used in the production of Barolo, then moving away from the "traditionalists".

Labels are excellent, in perspective, however, given the recent years (this is the last year exit the market).


Barolo Le Coste 2006 / Giacomo Grimaldi :


Al naso risalta l’alcol, ancora in evidenza, poi profumi di ciliegia e amarena sotto spirito. Seguono poi note ferrose, balsamiche ed una leggera vaniglia.

Al gusto è caldo, morbido e di buona sapidità. Il tannino è ben presente ma è pulito, con finale dolce e con richiami di frutta rossa in confettura e tabacco.


Barolo Le Coste 2006 / Armando Parusso :


Subito sentori ematici, ruggine; seguono aromi floreali di geranio e viola. Lasciandolo un po’ nel bicchiere sprigiona intensi effluvi di spezie scure, piante medicinali e china.

In bocca il tannino è in evidenza, ancora da svolgere e leggermente amaricante ma progressivo, minerale ed austero con finale balsamico.


Barolo Sorì Ginestra 2006 / Conterno Fantino :


Olfatto ancora chiuso. Molto lentamente scopriamo notes of berries, rhubarb and purple.

tasted even out the tannins, compact and elegant, in a decisive manner that dries the palate. Fresh finish. To wait much longer than the previous wines tasted.


Ciabot Mentine Barolo Ginestra 2006 / Domenico Clerico :


there is still a very closed nose that slowly emanates fruity aromas of black currant and black cherry, violet and spice and herbal notes mixed e sbuffi minerali.

Tannino anche qui in evidenza ma di grandissima morbidezza. In bocca pian piano si apre con una bella corposità ed acidità marcata che scivola in piacevoli sentori balsamici. Il finale è caratterizzato da una forte presenza ematica. Molto persistente.




Barolo Bric del Fiasc 2006 / Paolo Scavino :


Avvicinando il bicchiere al naso subito stands out the alcohol, then flavors of cherry, violets and menthol. Closes a nuance and glycerine scent of incense.

Sorso round, silky tannins and a master. Excellent acidity and long finish. Excellent game-tannic acid, which is perceived in the final.


Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2006 / Luciano Sandrone :


Bouquet elegant berries, moss, menthol and herbs.

Input compact and smooth with soft tannins. Acidity less effective but does not mean that there is, is just well cast in the body of the wine. Long finish.


Barolo Rocche Annunziata Torriglione 2006 / Robert Voerman :


Smell closed and compact: hints ferrous metals, and fruity with hints of coriander and gypsum.

full tasting, robust and soft tannin in mind, smoother and more compact. After

a first phase of "rough", the tannins tend to diminish and gently blends beautifully with the freshness. Closes a pleasant bitter taste and not at all invasive. Persistence record.


Barolo Rocche Annunziata Riserva 2004 / Paul Scavino :


seductive Nose: red berries , lots of minerality, sweet spices, resin, pomegranate and china.

The palate is full bodied with ample tannins and spicy evident. Good softness, then spreads with progression to end in a long finish mint.


It only remains to forget them in the cellar to appreciate in a few years ...

Vini Naturali a Roma

Notevole l’evento sui vini naturali al quale ho partecipato sabato scorso.

Molti i produttori, circa 80, con i quali confrontarsi, parlare, scambiarsi commenti e pareri. Tanti vini interessanti degustati, molte conferme e non poche piacevoli sorprese.

Tra tutti quelli che mi hanno colpito in modo particolare:

Stefano Amerighi - Syrah 2007. A wine dedicated to the pleasantness, beautiful, elegant and structured. Not too opulent and finally outside the usual model of Italian syrah with regard to taste and olfactory sensations. Finally "nopepeneroadognicosto!

Ar.Pe.Pe. - Here we are at a confirmation. All excellent wines. In particular, the Rhaetian Sassella Star 2004 and the magnificent Red Cliffs Reserve 1999. Bouquet and crisp. Taste balance superlative.

A'Vita - great Cirò A'Vita 2008, but even greater in 2009, with spectacular minty aromas, good structure, very drinkable.

Giampiero Bea - the fantastic Pipparello 2005. The nose gives off complex fruit tones r bones c onfettura, cocoa, leather. The taste surprised as always very present tannins but fine, as well as a persistent record.

The Biancara - legendary Angie Maule never ceases to amaze us. The 2009 has a mineral Sassaia unparalleled. The mouth is full, broad, balanced. Just as the 2008 San Tocai So, with a unique elegance.

La Visciola : un Cesanese del Piglio veramente ben fatto. Molto interessante il Priore 2009, lontano dai soliti stereotipi.

Graci : siamo sull’Etna e arriviamo a “Quota 600”… Questo rosso, l’Etna Quota 600 2008 ha tutto quello che ti aspetti da un vero vino etneo. Fresco, rotondo, sapido, eterno. Un must.

Giovanni Montisci : gran bel personaggio questo produttore che presenta il suo vino, Il Barrosu Riserva 2008. Devo dire che ne sono rimasto affascinato. Potente, di great body, but also lean and tasty. Good news.

Giuseppe Rinaldi : How not to celebrate Bruno Le Coste Barolo? (2006). The wine .. what about ... Clean, balanced, perfect. Obviously, it's a youngster. But put it in the basement .. We talk a few years ...

Stella di Campalto : la giovane produttrice ha portato il Rosso di Montalcino 2008, il Brunello 2007 e lo splendido Brunello 2005, inizialmente chiuso ma dopo qualche minuto nel bicchiere sprigiona aromi di fiori rossi appassiti, humus e sentori ematici. Sorso fresco, pieno ed equilibrato.

Emidio Pepe : qui non c’è bisogno di presentazioni. Due i trebbiano provati. 2008 e 2006, quest’ultimo già con l’impronta dei trebbiano a cui Pepe ci ha abituati. Poi la mini-verticale dei Montepulciano: 2007, 2005, 2003, 2001, 2000. Ottimo il 2003 nonostante the difficult and extraordinary vintage 2000 and 2001 (the '01 head and shoulders above the others).



Klinec : excellent Modana , a blend of Ribolla Friulano, Verduzzo, Malvasia and Chardonnay. Aromas of white flowers, honey, vanilla and fresh taste and silky. The Rebula as good, beautiful expression of Ribolla Yellow, with aromas that recall fresh herbs, exotic fruit and citrus.

Appunti di degustazione: il Cesanese al ‘Percorsi Divino Wine Fest’


Here are some notes on the tasting of wines made at the base Cesanese Routes Divine Wine Fest :


Romanico 2005 [Magnum] (Coletti Conti)
Sentori di marasca, spezie dolci, prugna e note mentolate.
In bocca è largo, pieno, ricco, con un bel tannino elegante e ottima sapidità.

Silene 2005 (Ciolli)
Pungente al naso: mora e amarena in confettura esaltate da note di pepe e nettissimi profumi di mandarino. Rotondo in bocca con tannini importanti e nello stesso tempo di ottima fattura.

Capozzano 2008 (Formiconi)
Risaltano subito le note ematiche e ferrose contornate da speziatura di vaniglia e pepe nero. La bocca è sapida e fresca. In retrolfattiva e nel finale il legno torna in maniera un po' troppo perentoria, esaltando così un deciso gusto speziato. Ottima la persistenza.

Cirsium 2005 (Ciolli)
Apre con aromi di kumquat (il mandarino cinese per capirci), ciliegia, chinotto e radice di rabarbaro. In bocca è caldo, tannino in evidenza e scia leggermente amaricante in fondo.

Cisinianum 2009 (Formiconi)
Naso di buon impatto: ciliegia, rabarbaro, arancia. Ingresso setoso e discretamente fresco, con netti ritorni speziati. Ancora importante l’apporto del legno.

Purtroppo non ho avuto modo di fermarmi più a lungo e non ho potuto degustare l’ultimo vino in programma (probabilmente ancora di Antonello Coletti Conti), peccato…

Verticale Carema DOC al Percorsi Divino Wine Fest

Carema 1970 White Label Reserve:

Carema 1971 Red Label:

smell is still fruity with clean mineral notes and hints ethereal. The entrance is very tasty and fresh. Large estate, the better.

Carema 1974 Etichetta Rossa:

anche qui spiccano i sentori terziari con note medicinali e smaltate. Bocca dolce e discreta sapidità.

Carema 1978 Etichetta Rossa:

in evidenza aromi di caffè e legno umido. In bocca è meno incisivo dei precedenti (’70 a parte). Chiude un po’ corto.

Carema 1978 Etichetta Bianca Riserva:

deciso aroma di tabacco, poi concia e muschio. Assaggio dinamico e fresco e ancora con ritorni fruttati. Bello, in forma smagliante.

Bonzara The estate is located in Monte San Pietro (BO) to about 450 m above sea level and was founded in 1963 by Angelo Lambertini. The company, part of the Consorzio Vini DOC Colli Bolognesi, is advised by winemaker Lorenzo Landi.
I had the opportunity to taste the Bonzarone, thanks to my cousin who came to visit me from London (that's just come to visit me more often, is not it ???).
The Bonzarone is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, from vineyards of more than twenty years. Fermentation in stainless steel for 20 days with frequent mixing, the wine after malolactic fermentation, aged in barriques second passage for about a year.

Nose gives off aromas of red fruits like cherry and black cherry, then chocolate milk and sweet spices with an ending reminiscent of black pepper. Il vino degustato è un Royal Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos Blue Label del 1995.
Colore bruno e dalla decisa consistenza. Al naso esprime profumi di albicocca disidratata, arancia amara, piante officinali, mirto, radice di rabarbaro, mallo di noce e miele.
Il palato è una sinfonia di aromi di bocca che richiamano il naso. Carezzevole e di straordinaria acidità allo stesso tempo, con una persistenza da primato.
Da abbinare, perché no, ad un classico tiramisù.

Pinot Nero Fuchsleiten DOC 2009 - Ansitz Pfitscher

Qualche tempo fa avevo parlato del Sauvignon Stoass of Pfitscher.

Consiglierei di provarlo abbinato ad un arrosto di vitello ai carciofi.
