Fiat, S & P lowers ratings to BB from BB +, Fiat Industrial BB +

LONDON, Feb. 24 (Reuters) - Standard & Poor's lowered its rating on Fiat (FIA.MI: Quote ) long-term BB + from BB, and confirmed that the short-to B.
The outlook is negative. The rating was on CreditWatch with negative implications by April 23.
S & P has assigned a BB + rating Fiat Industrial (Fi.Ma: Quote ).
The rating reflects a financial risk profile and S & P defines as "significant." The agency instead of talking business profile "satisfactory".
The rating agency said that Iveco and CNH (CNH.N: Quote ) are well positioned in key markets and this reduces the impact strong competition in the sector.
FIAT FOR MORE BUSINESS RISKS
"The downgrade reflects our view that credit quality is weaker than the Fiat group's previous structure, due to increased risks of business after the spin-off of other assets," says the ' Standard & Poor's analyst Barbara Castellano.
The negative outlook highlights the risk of a new downgrade over the next 12-18 months.
S & P identifies a number of weaknesses.

LONDON, Feb. 21 (Reuters) - Banca Popolare di Milano (PMII.MI: Quote ) is preparing a bond of tipo subordinato Lower Tier II della durata di 10 anni, a tasso fisso.
Lo dicono a Reuters due lead manager dell'operazione.
Il rendimento indicato al momento (whisper) è nell'area dei 350 punti base sopra il tasso del midswap.
Guidano l'operazione Banca Akros, CS, GSI e HSBC.
La Popolare di Milano ha un Lower Tier II sul mercato con scadenza 2015 per cui c'è la possibilità di richiamo ogni tre mesi, dopo che alla prima call lo scorso anno non era stato fatto. Tale bond, di ammontare circolante di 600 milioni, potrebbe essere sostituito dal bond annunciato oggi se di ammontare pari o superiore ad esso.
Bond simili sul mercato che offrono un paragone sono quello del Banco Popolare (BAPO.MI: Quotazione ) that share a yield around 330/345 basis points on the rate of midswap, Monte Paschi (BMPS.MI: Quote ) to 260/275 bps and Unicredit (CRDI.MI: Quote ) 295 / 310 bp.
